A different kind of BSOD question.

edited May 2011 in Science & Tech
I have run through so many things attempting to resolve the BSOD complications, nothing has worked of course! That being said I decided to send my computer back in time, resetting to factory specs. Sounds simple enough, or one would think!

When I try to activate the PC Restore from my recovery drive (D drive on my Inspiron530S) it will run for.... idk. 1 second? maybe 2, then a box appears, and it simply says ERROR with the red circle containing an X. Needless to say it doesn't finish running.

Is there a way to force this reset, or am I royally boned? I have tried system restores, various repairs for many aspects, and am fairly close to trying a "put this in the trash can" plan for this computer. I'm far from a tech person, but if anyone needs further information to help, just ask! There is no error "message" when that particular program fails, it simply says ERROR.

Sounds like you have a hardware issue. You should run memtest86+ and either Hitachi's DFT or your HDD manufacturer's test. You can download UBCD and it has a multitude of tests to use.
