cant type beyond one keystroke-sos

help...its come down to me using my mothers computer to try and resolve MY computer issue. if i key in one key the computer will lock. Its worked fine for the last 8 months and now the HP is acting funny. I cant find where on the keyboard I might have keyed in to make it lock. I cant type beyond one keystroke. Any suggestions?

    What happens when you try to type more? Does the computer freeze? Does the keystroke just not go through? Does a window pop-up preventing you from doing anything else? Are there any noises involved? Some more details would be great.

    Try booting into safe mode (reboot, press F8 a few times just after BIOS screen) and seeing if it persists. If not, then try another keyboard (assuming you are using a desktop, try anyways if it is a laptop). Could also be a virus, so you can commence scanning/removal using ComboFix and Malwarebytes.
