Anyone use this on their NF7-S?? I'm just about to throw mine together, and I'm wondering if I should use it on my 60gb Maxtor ATA-133.
Just so you know, you CANNOT use ATAPI devices, such as CD-ROMs with this. Otherwise it's a nice little feature. It makes it easier to add more devices, but there is no real advantage over using a regular 40 pin 80 conductor cable. It won't be any faster. I would say just save it until you need to add another drive.
do you have to install drivers before the sata ports work, or are they "PnP" and work from the get go, xenogeare's board came with dos sata drivers, i didnt really lok at the disk, but i was wondering if those were for all platforms or like 95/98
So, if you wanted to run Windows off the drive on the SATA connector, would you have to install Windows and the SATA drivers with it on the ATA port before moving it to the SATA?
I'm planning on getting my NF7-S running today that's been sitting around for almost 2 months
When installing windows you can press F6 or w/e it is to install raid type drivers I think. Or go thru with the install and move it over to the inverter.

I think that's what I'll do. You don't think it'll cause any IDE BSOD's, do you? I know switching mobos will do it, but switching it to another controller may cause the same problem?

Worked on my Asus P4C800 with no problems. Don't know about the NF7, but I assume it would work fine.

the paper i have here, that came with an Abit board and a serillel2 adapter says "Supports ATAPI devices, such as CD-Rom, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, etc"
i dont have mine hooked up that way, but i have personally seen, and backed up DVD movies on a system with the DVD-R drive hooked up via the Serillel adaptor.

The cables are also thinner...better for airflow.
