BIOS Settings for new memory

Hi,

I just installed some new memory, ripped out the old, and put in 3 new strips.

CORSAIR, 3x2GB DDR3 1600

My old memory was only 2x1GB Crucial 1333

Everything worked fine and windows recognises it as 6GB, but the guy in the shop said I should probably look at my BIOS, because it will need changing to allow the new memory to run @ 1600

So, I changed my BIOS, MS-7522 (X58 Platinum SLI) (CMOS/American Megatrends), to the memory settings 9 9 9 24 (in the CAS Latency, tRCD, tRP, tRAS fields) like it said on the strips.

However, CPU-Z doesn't seem to say 1600 anywhere.

Have I done things right can anyone tell?

Attached is a screen shot of CPUZ.

Thanks,

Rob.

You should actually configure your BIOS to detect the memory "by SPD," which will automatically set the correct settings for you. Failing that, your memory is currently running at 533MHz, which is DDR3-1066. 800MHz is DDR3-1600.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I went into my BIOS, and set the options I changed back to 'AUTO'.

That didnt seem to do much in CPU-Z, it still says 534.7

    Any more suggestions?

BTW, I didnt say before, my BIOS is DrMOS.

I'm all new to changing the BIOS, so sorry :)

    Rob.
