Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 + SBAudigy 2 ZS = static

edited January 2004 in Hardware
I installed audigy 2 zs today, plugged my klipsch promedia 2.1 in, and got constant static. Anybody know the solution to this? It works fine if I plug in my headphones directly into the line out (third from the firewire port).

If the soundcard works with headphones, my suspicion would be aproblem with the speakers. Could be that the plug connections are damaged inside the wire. Do the speakers work properly if connected to another computer or sound device? Can you try plugging them directly into the headphone jack of your CD player while you have an audio CD playing?

I checked the support sites for both the card and the speakes, and you have the connections right.

Also, try leaving the speakers connected and turn the computer off. If there is still static or hissing when the computer is off, that is a good indicator of a speaker problem.

    Dexter...

///EDIT: found this on the Klipsh support site:
All I hear is static and very low volume.

Make sure your digital output in your soundcard software is turned off.

That looks like a likely candidate. Try to find where to disable the digital output from the Audigy card.

also, make sure the windows volume control is set for about 3/4 of the way up for all of the outputs.
