My Tough Mudder

So, I've mentioned it here and there, but here is the official story.

This weekend, my team and I ran and finished the Tough Mudder. It was a hell of a race, I'm still covered in bruises, scrapes, cuts, but the mud has finally washed off unlike the smile on my face.

I've been working hard on this goal for a while (P90X last year and lots of running this year), but I have to say that without any of that, I don't think I could have finished, let alone finished with the team. It was brutal and preyed on many base fears of people. Claustrophobia, fear of heights, water, fire, getting hurt, etc.. but in the end, I have my headband (never sold, only earned) and am proud to wear it.

This is a link to my Picasa photo album of the event:

Also, here are three links to videos of guys that were in the same heat as I was. These videos give you a great idea of what it was like, most obstacles, the number of people and the comradery that is the Tough Mudder.

If you have heard of this event and have wondered if it was worth it... it is!

I'm wondering if we could get an IC group together for Tough Mudder, MI in 2012??! Any takers?

I'm signing up for the one in TX at the end of March. I need a goal, and they give both a workout plan and expected fitness conditions that I should be able to meet with a 6 month deadline (basically, from couch)

Is there a rope option to help you get up the wall? Did a lot of people have a tough time with it?

Either way, it looks rad. Congrats on finishing!

The Berlin Walls were interesting because they were 10 feet high with no rope. The only help you got was a 2x4 nailed in to the wall at about 2 feet from the ground. However, when your shoes are caked in mud, getting any kind of footing is difficult. Most people received help from someone else on the ground and the guys on top would reach down and hoist you up til you got a hand on the top of the wall. There were several that needed a couple people from below to help push them up, but as far as I saw, everyone was making it over in one way or another.

Wow. That looks intense, but a lot of fun at the same time! And it looks like you got a banana and beer at the end, in addition to your headband! :)

Yeah, most deserved beer I've ever had... I wouldn't say best though... it was Dos Equis... I would have chosen a Smithwicks if I had my druthers....

I held my breath during your third video, where you duck under water to go underneath the wall. ^.^

    Congrats!
