So I was trying to install linux mint alongside windows 7 today and while mint was crafting its partitions the plug to my laptop came out and linux automatically went to a dos type screen. It was stuck there so I had no choice but to hard restart and it wouldn't boot into linux our windows which I was expecting. I figured if slip in my bootable win 7 usb and repair the bootsect. Now it starts to boot the usb and gets to the losing files screen then automatically restarts every time. I put in a bootable mint usb and same thing, it loads for a minute then restarts. Finally I tried a bootable partition manager which also does the same thing. I'm confused at whats going on and h how im supposed to fix it if nothing seems to boot.

You could try taking the hard drive with Win7 out, then try booting from any boot cd just to make sure there isn't something going on with the hard drive.
If it works, plop the hard drive in an external and repair it that way.
If it does not work, try reseting your bios to defaults and try again.
If that doesn't work, take the battery and ram out of your laptop and hold the power button down for 60 seconds, cross your fingers, and chant. Put it all back together and try some other stuff.

Eat a football, watch some dog, and walk the cake.

I just left it off for a day and tried again and it worked. Who knows.
