No system restore or backup wizard

edited August 2011 in Science & Tech
I have an old Dell Latitude D600 laptop. I bought it 'refurbished'. I don't know what was used to install the OS, but there is only a C drive and no other area like a D section for system restore points to go. Windows XP is on it, but there is no backup wizard on it like my desktop has.

I have an external hdd that I copied important files to, but I'm up a creek if I have a serious problem. I'd like to do a good cleanout because it's getting a little bogged down, but I'm afraid to. Any advice ?

You will have to buy a copy of Windows XP. If there's no recovery partition, no recovery disks, and you don't own a copy, then there's really nothing you can do if something goes awry unless you buy that OS.

I was afraid of that. Thank you for your quick response.
