I keep turning in wu's for another team. I tried uninstalling and deleting the files and re-download folding@home and reconfigure for Bud at team 93. for some reason though it keeps going towards Alliance Francophone (id # 51) and i dont know what im doing wrong. Any ideas?

If you have a console client, call is to run the client with the -config switch.
Are you running windows or something like Linux, and are you running as admin to install??? the problem is, if you use a restricted user ID to config, the box O\S might be keeping the config file from being overwritten if you use 2000 or XP. fix is to trash the client.cfg file and if you cannot do that you are using the wrong ID group class to do this and XP is preventing the client.cfg write. When you can trash the client.cfg file, you should be able to get XP to write the right new one.
For config purposes, you do not want XP protecting the client.cfg file, and having that file exist fro so long that it is marked for archiving and also runnig client as a user without admin privileges leaves XP likely to mark and archive the file and then keep normal user from changing it. This is also true of Linux and BSD.
In some cases, if you are in the right ID (any ID with admin level privileges) you can unmark the archive and read-only attributes, trash the client.cfg file, then run client in config mode.
So, process is this:
first, shut down client.
second, trash the client.cfg file in folder that has your folding at home client in it (in the case of windows graphical, this client is called WINfah.exe and you can search for it to see where the client is)
third, force client to go into config mode as follows:
right click the WINfah.exe icon;
in the line that has a path to WINfah, after the last quote, insert a '-config';
click apply, then OK, or just OK if no apply button.
Fourth, when back to the Explorer directory window, double-click the WINfah.exe icon and you will be forcing the client to reconfig, and use the entry boxes for ID and Team to enter the ID and Team. Click Apply if an apply button, then OK.
Fifth, Shut down client if running, open Client.cfg in wordpad, see that your ID and team are right. If so, start client again after closing wordpad.
Sixth, go back into the icon for the WINfah.exe and remove the '-config' and put in either nothing or try '-advmethods -forcesse' in its place. I actually went further with the icon-relative command extension idea, I have a config icon, a send icon, and a basic run icon on the desktop for all users, each with a distinct command line -command insert set by function. I can tell you folks howto on this if wanted, will not if not asked.
Alternatively, you can trash the whole Folding@Home directory and reinstall client after downloading again, but the other way lets you change team and ID on the fly and after completing the WU in progress the next WU and onward will be credited right after 12-24 hours for the stats server to switch and start tracking your new team relationship. I have done this in both Linux and Windows, occassionally with older than version 4 clients I have had to trash one WU in progress to avoid a client UID sig error on turnin-- the version 4.0.1 client will rebuild a queue.dat if needed when it runs. If I have to do that, I trash contents of work folder, and the queue.dat file in the folder above the work folder.
Depends on how used to admin you are with XP, as to which would be easier for you.
John.
relax, you are still sending in points for our team.
If you click here:
http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/userpage?q=Bud
You will get a listing of all users named Bud. Scroll down a little, you are the second Bud.
Now if you go to the Extreme Overclocking detailed stats pages, and find your name:
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/member_overview.php?UserID=64375
you will see that in the last week you have contributed 856.11 points to the team. You are going to overtake 6 other members by Feb 1st.
You're cranking out the points Bud, way to go!
Dexter...
PS - hope you didn't go trash your cfg file already! That's not always a good first step, as you lose WU's. Never trash your cfg file or uninstall the F@H core until you are certain that there is indeed a problem.
