It's a dell and it has xp home on it 1gig ram pentium D
Here's what's happening:
first thing is
the instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at 0x00000010". The memory could not be "written".
Click OK to terminate. Click Cancel to debug.

I found to do this as an answer
Get your WinXP CD handy, then go to Start>Run and type

sfc /scannow

That'll replace any missing or corrupt system files.

The problem is It boots to the log on screen but when you log on you have no icons or anything but the background and a box with
Data Execution Prevention- Microsoft Windows
saying
To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.
Name: Windows Explorer
Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

Any help please

Um, boot from XP CD, and do a repair install.

May also, once you get it more stable, need MemTest run on it.

If you need to save file off of it, you can boot to a linux boot CD or something similar with it and a USB HDD plugged in to pull the files off the main drive.

You should probably try thrax's repair windows xp in 8 steps guide.

Make sure you check physical connections, and if it still reports HDD not found, then you have a dying HDD on your hands.

transferring the files to the new drive. Also I put more memory
