Hoping for some CM7 Help

So, I've finally put CM7 RC 1.7 for my Thunderbolt on the phone. I like the look and feel, wifi is working, but for the life of me I cannot get my phone on Verizon's network. I've tried flashing a radio using Clockwork but it's aborting that update via zip.

I don't have the ability to use ADB commands right now, am I missing something?

Try dialing *228. It's Verizon's OTA programming, which will update your phone with the latest tower listing, as well as the IDs for your home city, blah blah blah.

//EDIT: If you can't use ADB commands, then you don't have the drivers installed to make your device appear as an ADB device in device manager.

I don't, I'm at work right now, I have them at home.

As a side note, I've heard LTE + *228 is a bad idea as the radios are different or some such. I'm not sure exactly how that matters.

EDIT SUCCESS!: So, I managed to get into the bootloader with the new radios and miracle of miracles I've got service.

I can't say I've heard anything about LTE vs. *228, so you'll have to do some Googling on that front.

I recall having this issue once with Jackie's OG Droid, and I had to call Verizon and play dumb to get the correct network settings programmed into a hidden menu. I never encountered the issue again, no matter how many times I wiped and flashed.

Yeah, once I flashed the normal (non-LTE) radio I got service. I really didn't need to flash the LTE radio, but I figure it'd be nice to have when they (lol) finally put 4G in my area.

That explains everything. CDMA merely becomes the voice channel when a phone is programmed to use LTE. In other words, your phone was searching for towers that didn't exist, and didn't know to connect to the CDMA network for provisioning/data/etc.

When I first got my TB, the salesmen at the Verizon store told me not to use the *228 service. He said they have been getting a lot of the LTE sim cards back from people who used *228. I'm not sure if there is any validity to what he said but I figured I would just throw out my limited knowledge on the subject to add to the discussion.

I've heard of mixed reports as well. Some say it just hangs up, others report issues with SIM cards. Best to just be safe unless you're sure.
