Weirdness on my G2

Got an odd one here. Phone is a T-Mobile HTC G2 (US HTC Desire Z). Android 2.3.4

All of the issues revolve around the keyboards both software and hardware though I don't know if the issues are related past that.

Software Keyboard: Swype does not work. I get no trail when swyping, only reads the last letter I land on, as if I tapped it. The keyboard looks like this. I've turned swype off then back on, no change.

Hardware Keyboard: Fresh boot, works perfect. Then something happens and the e, c, g, p and s keys turn into shortcuts. When typing a message if I hit one of those letters it takes me to another module. I'll note them next time it happens if that helps. A reboot of the phone is the only fix I have found for this. I cleaned the keyboard with Alcohol and q-tips thinking it was a key getting stuck. It came back shortly after booting it back up.

I've gone into the process manager and see nothing running that should effect these.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help,

-Digi

Nope, not related to the 3 programmable shortcut keys. My issue is the Letters themselves turn into shortcut keys. Therefor not allowing me to type those letters using the hardware keyboard.

Update to a newer CM nightly. Clear cache and dalvik cache in recovery first.

Hmm. Then try deleting cache/data for the Swype application from app management.

I know this happens when the swype beta expires, but you should have a full version on the G2.

I've made a step in the right direction.... Swype simply isn't running, and I have no idea how to start it. (I've tried stopping it in cached apps and restarting).

I'll have to Google Foo when I get home in a bit.

Sounds like your keyboard was switched. Enable the Swype keyboard from Android's input settings, then long press on a text box to activate it.
