Completely reasonable and only a 6gb install to boot.

It'll still bring the pain to my home system. My dual 5770s should be enough to get the detail levels up, but the dual core Celeron can't keep them fed. I already have it preordered, but I'll probably wait to play until I can upgrade in a couple of months. That means I've got a couple more months to actually get some schoolwork done before my life gets sucked into <s>Oblivion</s> Skyrim...

A 6GB install makes me incredibly nervous for the variety of environments and/or the playtime of the game.

I've been hearing a lot of numbers, Rob... But the core campaign from what I'm understanding is 20-30 hours. Of course, as with Oblivion, you could probably sink 100-300 hours in easy.

Man I'm stoked for this game! I think I'll be able to handle it as well. My specs can handle it (to the best of my knowledge) except for the graphics card. But that can be upgraded pretty easily.

6BG is reasonable, plus any additional DLC or expansions.

The same was true of Dragon Age II, but it suffered from mind-numbingly repetitive environments, sounds, and even character designs.

Maybe everything will be covered in snow.

This makes me happy. As long as their new engine doesn't suck bricks, I should be able to run this just fine.

Actually, keep in mind that given the nature of how they tend to do these games, a LOT of assets get reused, quite often. It's really -nothing- new for them. unless you thought the environments in their other games were too small, I don't really think this will be too much of an issue.

The cool thing with Elder Scrolls games is that if you don't like the original content or it's lacking in some way, the modding community is pretty boss.

    This.

I think I'm gonna get this one on console, though. My computer can't handle it.

My build is only lacking on two fronts: OS=Vista and my graphics card is meh. Main problem I have is that the inside is rather cramped so the newer dual-slot cards mostly don't fit. Next time I get a brand new computer I'm gonna have it built from scratch.

    Anyway, can't wait!

    Weird, I don't see the 3dfx Voodoo5 listed.

Anyone else taking off work/school/responsibility to play this?

This is one of the most anticipated games of 2011? Really? I haven't even heard of it until now.

    :tim:

Is this game expected to build upon the last one a lot? Just wondering if I'd be missing out by not playing the prequels.

I doubt it. I only played a few minutes of Morrowind, but didn't feel like I was missing out in Oblivion.

If you're into lore, playing Oblivion will enhance your experience. It's definitely not going to be necessary, though.

I wish I could but my conscience would eat me alive if I skipped out on any of my responsibilities.

That and I only just got back on after being sick for weeks so taking work off would likely get me fired. XD

    On the topic of Specs:

Unfortunately my comp doesn't have the processor or the graphics card to run this so I'm stuck with the Xbox version (Still going to be awesome although the lack of mods will hurt later) until I can get a new PC.

    Going off specs again.

Only two more days till its release I CANT WAIT!!!
