can u update ATI cards??

edited January 2004 in Hardware
I just start my first build and now i gotta choose which video card i want. I'm thinkin of gettin the saphire 9600pro or gigabyte 9600xt off of newegg for bout $150 :D , but through reviews i've read they were unable to update the drivers. It would either cause crashing or worse performance. So then they would have to go back to the outdated drivers on the cd package. Could this just be due to just bad chips or is it wide known to ATI products or of some sort??

you could always get a GeForceFX 5700 ultra it performace just as good or better then the 9600xt

but back on topic, i wouldnt worry about that driver problem its just there opinion. some people have there own opinions on what drivers are better

i think i'm gonna let thrax comment on the 5700, but what reviews are you talking about? if you use the drivers from the manufacturer (the updated ones that is) you should be fine

I guess they just got crappy hardware or drivers cause I've never had problems updating drivers.
