IR Repeater?

I need to be able to control my work's Apple TV through a metal door, but I've been approved to find a product that will repeat the IR signal from the Apple TV IR remote to the receiver inside the server room. So far, I'm not finding what I'm looking for.
I want to be able to use the SAME Apple TV IR remote, without any extra paripharals other than the repeater (no extra remotes).

Please also remember that (as far as I know) you CAN'T plug a receiver into the Apple TV (there's no port), so I essentially need something that will receive the signal, and send it out to the other side (inside the room, in front of the Apple TV)

Does anyone know where I can find a product like this, or any parts and instructions on how to BUILD one? I REALLY need to get this project done!

IR may not pass through the door to get to the repeater though. IR needs to be near line of sight or bounced off a wall.
If the remote can talk to the repeater through the door, why can't it talk to the TV through the door?

you put the repeater on the other side of the door

Yes, but it needs to receive a signal from the remote to repeat, if the remote can't get through the door now, how will it get to the repeater?

    That is my point.

I already linked a cheaper one in the thread. And there are probably cheaper ones at amazon - I really just linked the first one that came up.

You could build one, you'd probably just need a ir photodiode, an ir led, an op-amp, some resistors and a power supply...but it might be pretty difficult to get it to work as well as a kit you pick up from amazon.

In my head.. the repeater didn't have any cord on it. I was expecting a device with a receiver on one side, transmitter on the other, no cord. Thus.... fail.
