One summer during undergrad, I was very bored, and decided that I would learn to use the dvorak keyboard layout. I didn't want to move all my keys around, so I just set a picture of the layout as my background. I'm glad i did because...

  • Teaches you to touch type because you can't find a keyboard that has dvorak labeling.
  • No one wants to borrow/use my computer anymore.
  • You're considered a nerd among geeks.
  • When the guy comes to install the cable internet, he can't figure out how to install that lame software.
  • WASD gaming is out. ,AOE is in.
  • Something about typing efficiency.
  • Your home row becomes AOEUHTNS. How awesome is that?
  • If you share a computer, you get to constantly piss off whoever else uses it.
  • Somehow, it breaks the keyboard layouts completely in the CSE labs here when I use ssh -Y to tunnel X
There you have it. If you have a summer to burn, or hate your job, I highly recommend learning to use the dvorak keyboard layout.
