[BLOG] A home built system with home built issues...

So I jumped back into the market of being a at home PC builder. I should note I have never been fond of the big brand desktop companies as they always seem to put proprietary crap in the system for hardware along with tons of bloatware which seems to be physically embedded into the system forever. Now in some cases you can customize the living hell out of a Desktop PC but you usually pay a bit more to have it done that way.

In this I choose to build my own desktop systems like many others. But the problem remains that you are buying parts from different companies and have to hope it all fits together properly to create a harmonious system that will work flawlessly.

In all my builds I can honestly say I have not had many issues with hardware not working or being shipped a DOA (dead on arrival) product. But in this instance I can finally say I know what it is like to be a frustrated at home PC builder. I am not necessarily upset that I received a piece of product or in this case products that don't work, but it is the mire fact that I have had to become Dr. PC Builder. I hate when an issue is beyond my own understanding as it makes me feel like I have no freaking clue what I am doing. But than again I feel blessed I have a home such as Icrontic to help me in these frustrating times. So again for those of you looking for help Icrontic is the place to come.

In general I have gone through a ring of issues which has lead to a broken memory controller and a bad piece of ram. These issues are fairly minor but are not the easiest of things to pin point in a system build especially the memory controller issue. My major frustration is the fact of RMA's equal a longer wait time to enjoy my system. In this though I can say each company that I am working with has provided A+++++ support and RMA processes to make sure me the consumer is happy with their product. So hats off to OCZ, AMD, ASUS & Newegg.com for their awesome tech support and RMA departments.

Overall this build has been enjoyable and frustrating and has given me a quick reminder that not everything is always going to work 100% of the time. I have fallen into the hole with many other people around the globe and got that "I want it now mentality" but I now know why some systems from custom PC building companies just might take a few weeks to build and ship. To think people are employed to just RMA items all day... creepy & uneventful :)

Even with my small issues this time around I still would recommend to anyone wanting to build a PC to do it on their own and have fun with it.

Installed the new Mobo the other day and all items worked... Tested the OCZ memory again and found the same issue they have been sent in for RMA :)
