[BLOG] one traveler
Life is a bitch.
My roommate from the Army died in a motorcycle crash last Thursday night.
I had to put my dog down today and bury him. He had cancer and was 15.
But. I will survive.
My favorite poem is Robert Frost's, The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence

And that has made all the difference
This has been my motivation lately, "And I took the one less traveled by
and that has made all the difference."
I'm still standing, even after a couple real hard blows. I have not lost vision of where I want to be. I may not walk the normal path to this goal. Friends may question my decisions.
But, as Robert Frost put it, that has made all the difference.

Even with all the life's unexpected twists, you have done a good job keeping your eye on the prize and staying focused.
As they say, if we never endure pain in life, we will never truly appreciate the sweet moments.
