Modem Keeps Crashing.

edited December 2011 in Science & Tech
recently, i changed the operation system on my laptop (Satelight A200) from Linux OpenSuse 11.3 to windows xp professional 32bit. since then, my modem (Thomson TG585, standard telecom modem) has been continuously crashing.
now i don't believe in coincidences, so i swapped back to linux to test if the problems persisted and all such problems stopped. however, i currently need to use a Windows operating system because i have grown tired of a lot of the compatibility issues.

after installing Windows XP i located and installed all the computers drivers manually, and i thought it might have something to do with the wireless cards driver.

SO! could someone please please try and help me? it would be very much appreciated!

Not sure if you meant that there are coincidences, or you are actually implying that switching to Windows XP and your modem "crashing" are related (which they are not).

If you mean a flaky wired/wireless connection, that is much simpler to establish as a driver problem. If it is wireless that is giving you the issue, then install this driver (that is a direct link, so do a right-click and save as). You may be able to find a more recent version of that driver from intel if you know the chipset. You should also list the full model number, available on the bottom of the laptop.
