What is Autocomplete Pro? ...and how do I get rid of it.

The title says it all. I just came across this in my control panel>Uninstall a program>AutocompletePro.

When I click uninstall all I get is a "Cannot uninstall" dialog box that says "File 'C:\Program Files (x86)\AutocompletePro\unins000.dat' does no exist."

Was this installed from something else I install or is it malware or whatever. Thanks for your help.

    Adware. http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=44680

Maybe part of the malware that caused your exe trouble. This specific thing MIGHT be a keylogger, so I'm leaning further towards a wipe and reinstall for you.
  • Usually I use Revo uninstaller for these type of situations. Even if the application uninstaller can't run, Revo comes in behind it and allows you to clean up the files and registry settings associated with the software in question.
  • Still better off doing a wipe and reinstall though. Don't want to find out too late that it didn't get cleaned up completely and leaked your passwords/CC numbers all over the place.
  • True, when it comes to malware, better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks guys ...I downloaded Revo and uninstalled Auotcomplete Pro before ardi posted. It's all gone but like you say, it may still be lurking in the bowels of my computer some place.
