Help needed for explanation
Hi,
Been way too long to visit this site and seems lot have changed.
Well here i am again with a problem.
It seems my ISP is having some problems and wont admit it. When i start downloading something and using more than 50% of the bandwidth, the connection fails for like 5-10 secs and it comes back. Tried an infinite loop at google, was working fine with 65ms idle for like 10 mins, started download and after 1 min started having packet loss and net going down again for like 10 secs.
Tried from 3 different pc, changed 3 routers and still the same thing. Any idea what might going on ???
I am almost 100% its ISP problem so if you know a reason that might causing this pls answer so i can call them and give them a question they just cant answer :P

Remember, if your bandwidth is being shared among more than one computer with a router or switch that the connection TOTAL load for all devices must be limited to less than bandwidth total promised. Can you get to http://www.speedtest.net/ and have it test true bandwidth to one of its servers???
If so, test at different times of day and night and see if the promised bandwidth is delivered any time. If not, then confront your ISP with that data. I did that recently, and my ISP offered to send a tech out free to figure out why my connect was acting up.
I embarrassedly called them back after spending most of today troubleshooting router setup and finally plugging in an old router and finding out that my problem was solved (the new router was messing up when various speed ethernet connects were plugged into its wired ports). I will, in about a week, have a Cisco Linksys E4200 wireless/wired router/switch coming (better security), and for now have a valid connect that is about 4/5 of rated speed to 3/5 of rated speed depending on time of day.
So, COULD be the router if you have one, or a switch, or cabling, or wireless invasion attempt loads or success in invading the router.
John.
Well the providers router is called Aris (never heard of it) and i have another 2 routers working in bridge mode. One is EDIMAX and the other is Cisco E2500(bought 2 days ago).
Everything is secure and i am certain that none is using my bandwith. This is only happening when i start download at full speed. I have a friend that is having the same problem, so it must be them.
edit: The reason I ask is because if you are it isn't just you and your ISP. It's you, your ISP, and the telco. You probably need to call your ISP and request a line test and a rebuild of your circuit at the central office.
I thing i have eliminated everything that could possible be my fault so i thing its completely their problem.
Ohh, it seems its their problem. A lot of people complained about this, They have 2-3 kinds of routers and it seems the one i currently have has some problems.
