Call me skeptical, but his staff either do one of two things when writing these responses:
    1) recycle current policy lines
    2) recycle popular opinion that already lines up with existing policy (i.e. this would have been a change in policy)

I imagine the current administration would enjoy having some of the powers that were granted by this bill.
  • I think the media is blowing the bill out of proportion as usual. I do think there needs to be some measures to stop people from downloading movies and music off the Internet for free. Companies are losing money every day because of this and I would like something done about it. Thank you.

    That's not the argument.

No rational person opposing PIPA/SOPA wants the rights of content people to be violated. Nobody wants their work "stolen." We do need measures to curb large piracy operations.

However, and this is the truly essential point: SOPA and PIPA are not the appropriate measure, for all of the reasons described here.
  • My question is this, the CIA has bot agents they use to infiltrate the computers of hackers, take info, shut them down and give their local so they can be raided, so why can they not just hunt pirates the same way

Ghost from True Capitalist Radio asks that same question actually. My opinion they just can't be bothered I mean unless it's an issue of national security an agency like MI5, CIA, FBI, or CSIS aren't going to bother.

The broadcast if you care to listen.
