    Somethings to remember...

    1. Make sure they all have compatible ip addresses. like 192.168.0.1 - 15 or however many you need.

    2. Make sure that you have a compatible subnet in all of them.. Like 255.255.255.0 (works for the above IP addresses.

    3. Make sure you are all in the same work group.

    4. Make sure that user accounts are the same on all of them.

    5. For a lan that small id run a wins server... for internal name resolution

    6. make sure that all machines can ping each other...

a few things to get you started...

I think the literal first step would be to make sure all is hooked up correctly. How do you have the switches hooked up now? Do either of them have an uplink port, or an "auto" uplink feature? Just some info to start looking at.

Do you have the switches plugged into each other correctly? Double check to make sure you're using the uplink port. Also if you switched from a hub to a switch setup did you change cabling? Hubs use cross-over whereas switches use straight cable. I think most newer switches are "smart" and can detect which type of cabling is used and adjust, but I'm not positive all newer models can do this and I have no idea whether you're using a model that supports this or not.

If you have 13 machines on the network I'm thinking that you might not need to pay attention to #4 on Gobbles' list, unless all 15 machines actually should be logged in as the same user.

Make sure either the computer or switch is OFF when the CAT5 is connected to both the switch and computer.

Turn power on after the connection is complete. Follow Gobbles' list after.
