Hey there icrontic, me again.
I need to create a DRU for a business as part of my IT course and I can't for the life of my find prices on these damn things. Can anyone help. I also need prices on Voice Response Units and some old server technology. The servers I need pricing on are PIII 750MHZ with SCSI disks.

Any help would, again, we greatly appreciated.

-Thanks

Good luck with the server specs given, I do not know anyone still selling that kind of system.

What you want to do, however, is now possibly explained here:

  • I got the server prices I just need pricing on the ACD and VRU

    VRU:

Also known as IVR. Software based solution.

You are building essentially a PBX system. The PIII is obsolete, of course.
  • I don't really care as to what they do all I need is prices. Just straight out values. And yeah I know PIII is obsolete but these modules are like ages old, windows XP old

Contact owners of sites for prices. First like they are hosting or selling software, your pick. You get grade, so you get to work.

Just get a server sip trunk ata bunch of voip phones and then run asterisk which is free.

Or skip the server based model and spec out a shortel modular voip system.
  • Guys, I don't plan on starting a business, buying any of these or using anything like this. It's simply to create a disaster recovery plan. (I realize I said DRU in the main post. My bad)

It looks more like you're asking us to do your coursework for you. That's where the pushback is coming from.
  • Well actually the reason I need the prices is for the DRP. The reason I am coming here is because from about 4 hours of searching I couldn't just get a straight up price without needing to sign up or do some other crap. All I need is a price on it.

DRP is custom quoted usually, no flat rates. Same for what the thread title said you wanted, which is different thing unless your idea of disaster recovery is complete rebuild.
  • But the problem is I don't even have an average or estimate to go by on how much they are. I barely even know what they are let alone what they are worth.

The fact is that if someone just threw out a price range to you, it would do you no good. What is the point in knowing what something is worth if you don't know what it is and further why it is worth what it is worth?

I could ask you how knowing a price would help this project without knowing what it is you are getting a price for, but the fact is that you would spend as much energy explaining that as you would:

-reading the links that have been provided to you
-take a little time to get an understanding of what these are
-using the links that have been further provided tocontact those companies to get the quote that you are looking for

It is school, you will have to do work. If it is an IT course where they are having you quote specific solutions... it will probably be expected that you will have to know what those solutions are and not just their cost to pass the course.

The Icrontians above have helped you more then seem to realize currently.

  • I can understand that digi but the fact of the matter is I'm just trying to at least quote what the damages might be if something happened in the business. I don't need any sort of explanation into what they are. Also I don't feel right asking for a quote on something I am never going to follow up on, just a personal thing.

I feel you on that Jump, I honestly do. I think that you will be surprised at how much info you can get by simply calling a business and say "Hello, my name is jumpstylerz and I am working on a school project. I'm simply looking for a price range for X, might you guys be able to help me out with that?" If it is not a quote they need to stand behind, and there is no preconceived notion that it is, I would be surprised if they didn't just throw you out some numbers, or at least transfer you to someone who can. Worst case scenario there is they say "No".

True. I'll pop a few of them an email to get a look at price ranges for it. Thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: I can't seem to find anyone I can contact about ACD systems that doesn't require business details, which I cannot provide due to the fact there is no real business. Can anyone find a company I can email without needing any business deatils.

Put in school info as your business details or find just an email address.
