MyDoom's spread sparks concern over Antivirus technologies

edited February 2004 in Science & Tech
Antivirus technologies need to change because they fail to limit viruses during the crucial first hours of an epidemic, experts say.

[blockquote]The virus, which has combined many old attack techniques into a successful package, was hardly blunted by antivirus programs during the first few hours of its exponential spread.

That's a problem, said Shlomo Touboul, chief executive of security software maker Finjan Software.

Thats pretty stupid, guess these people want firefighters to be able to stop a wildfire before they even know about it?

How do they expect antivirus software makers to stop a virus before they're aware of it?

Forget about the stupid people opening questionable e-mail attachments. They need to learn that lesson on their own.
