Just got home and was flipping through the channels on my KVM and it jumped over channel 3. Guess which system is on channel 3? That's right SM10. It has no power!!!!! :mad2:

I don't know how long it's been down, but I'm switching over another system to SM10 until I have time to resolve this problem.

[grumble]system has been running fine for about 2 years or more and decides NOW to crap out[/grumble] :grumble:

New PSU should be here Monday. I probably won't be home Monday night, so it will likely be Tuesday night before I have a chance to work on it. I'm hoping the PSU is the problem.

But...SM10's substitute is steadily turning in WUs in the meantime.

Well crap. Either the new PSU I got is bad or that's not the problem. :(

Turn the PSU off and on using the switch on the PSU and when you turn the system on it gets power for about 5 seconds, then NOTHING!

Don't have time to mess with it right now (it's late). Guess I'll try a known good PSU when I have time....

That almost sounds like the CPU fan is not spinning up fast enough.

    Good luck!

I had a problem like that. The fan was heat sensing for RPM's, so I used a hair dryer to warm it up long enough to make it boot up, so I could get into the bios and turn off the RPM trigger.

I'd tell you to reseat everything including the power connector to the mobo, but I don't preach to the preacher!

Can't you hold the insert key when booting to bypass the automatic shutdown form lack of RPM? I know on one of my boards you could.

I don't think this ECS K7S5A board has that feature. I'll check the CPU fan and reseat all components.

It has been running fine for a long time with no problems so I don't know what's up. But, I will figure it out. :)

//edit: Thanks for all the offers, but I'll take care of the cost.

    SM10 is TOAST!!!!!

I finally got the power to stay on long enough to see the MB smoke! :D

I had another K7S5A that I thought was flaky and it is.....

I'll be purchasing another MB soon so I can get SM10 back up and running. In the meantime, I will keep the SM10 substitute running so SM10 is producing.

Sorry folks. I'll get it back up and running soon!

Just trying to do my part. K7S5A Pro on the way from newegg. I know it's not the best board, but it will allow me to use what is currently in SM10 (I hope). :)

btw....I haven't sent in my contract yet because I need to get everything working on SM10 first so I know for sure what components are in it.

My wife just sent me an email saying a package arrived today. I wonder what it could be. ;)

We are having an extremely busy day at work today so I doubt I'll go home tonight. Maybe I will get home tomorrow night and try and get SM10 running again....maybe.

    It's called management. ;)

I am an operations manager for an Automotive Parts Distribution Warehouse. I am responsible for all outbound operations. On really busy days where we don't finish loading trucks until 9:30 - 10:00 PM, I usually go to my Mom and Dad's house (22 miles) instead of driving home (55 miles). Today we will ship almost 70,000 parts! If it's ordered today, we deliver it tonight. :) Beat that NewEgg! :D

Last week, we shipped approximately $3,000,000 worth of auto parts. This week will probably be slightly higher.

I finally made it home last night. I installed the K7S5A Pro in a new case (it came with the PSU I bought ;)) and it's up and running.

Now the problem is my internet service is acting up. It is so slooooooow, it's useless. Hopefully it will be fixed ASAP!

I'm not ready to spill the beans yet, but MrBill is going to be featured in a new Team 93 project as a "thank you" for his tenacity. Watch for it soon.

The newly rebuilt SM10 is currently on it's second work unit! :celebrate

I'll take a picture of it this weekend. It looks much better with the new case. ;)

Here's what SM10 now looks like. I didn't know the case I ordered was an "e-machines" case until I got it.

Oh well....it looks better than it did! :D

(p.s. I'll be getting the contract completed and sent in now)
