I just got a WU that is one million steps as far as steps go, and the P4 is doing it at 10,000 (one percent) steps every 3.4 minutes. Looks like another BIG gen of Gromacs is being sent out for work.... The FUNNY thing is same P4 was doing 500,000 step WUs at about 4.5 min per percentage of 5,000 points on average....

John D-- who thought folks might like to know about a new size for Gromacs WUs, and since I JUST got the thing 23 min ago, thought you might want a quick notify. :D

The number of steps mean NOTHING!

Its 11.7 points. Look at that to judge how long it is going to take for a better prediction.

I just figure points per minute. I'm just amazed at how some proteins will fold almost twice as fast as others and give twice the pointage.

For me, same points per hour as the others, right about. Which is as it should be. But folding step amounts per WU that calc at same speed roughly, genreally do get roughly same points based on WU benching to calc points.

With the mix of non-Tinker WUs I am getting now, I will be at 15K in two-three days, and will pass Dan Ball tomorrow (Al Capown MIGHT catch up with me in late March if I do not get both the new MOBOs in by then). Actually, I care about what results happen more than points per se. I have no other than these two boxes folding under my ID. At position 123 and counting upward, looks like 4 more postions up by end of Feb 7 based on weeklies calcs at Arachnid (never can remember how to spell that fellow's name).

Let's see, 3.5 min per percentage for first 7%, now down to 3.1 min at percentage 45, average about 3.2 min per percentage. So, 11 points after the P4 folds for 5 hours and 20 min from core startup on this WU. That is not quite awful, 4.5 times 11 is ~50 points out of the P4 alone every 24 hours(if I got that size and WU alone). Between the two boxes, with a mix, I am getting 100-200 points a day overall, trending lower for two days, high every third as I get a mix of sizes. Average is now about 350-400 every three days for the past couple weeks of actual time folding, split between one minorly OC'd Barton 2500+(2070 GHz true, XP, cheaper RAM, GF4 card not near the best and usually has at least two other things active on it), and one UNDERCLOCKED P4 Northwood running at 2.4 GHZ that is not even running with Windows as O\S(Browser typically live about 12\7(hours\days in week), email typically live about 22\7, webdev package up about 10\7). Not too shabby. :D

If I get 3.2 min per percentage on a p920 I would get 164 points a day and 1152 points a week if I got those alone. Thats a horrible prodicing WU. I get normally like 4 something but its still a lot better than this WU.
