A few pieces of interesting information after the weekend ended. The Quakecon bundle is no longer available for purchase. That said if it was only going to be available for the weekend and $12.99 the entire time, the crossed out "retail" price that was marked down 56% was indeed just a marketing gimmick.
Also of note the items were "clean" meaning they are craftable, but they were not Genuine quality as they were originally given to players who ordered/preordered the associated games. If this (the items being craftable) is a precedence for TF2 DLC through the Steam Store, then a higher price than the same items in the Mann Co. Store may be justified.

That might have been a mark-down from what the items would have been if purchased individually the normal way.
