odd temp while playing on 43 inch TV

i gived my old Gcard to my brother the 6950 hes playing it on his 43 inch TV and he get 65C+ TEMP!!! on Idle is that normal??

his resolution is only 1280X1080

  • Size of display shouldn't affect the card at all. I'd check his cooling setup. Make sure he has enough cool air coming into the case.
  • Signal is right, the display is not the issue. It's probably a new case, or perhaps the home theater set up has him putting it on a shelf without allot of ventilation?

  • This is also true, assuming the card is loaded? As an idle temp not so much....

    As an idle temp, 65C is not unreasonable for any modern GPU in an enclosed case.

    in addition to gpus becoming more tolerant to higher temps, fan curves have also been changing to prioritize quiet over having the absolute lowest temps possible.
