Netbook or Tablet+Keyboard options?

Both myself and my stepdaughter are in the market for new portable devices. Our main goal is portability with as much functionality as possible. Neither of us have a price range yet so recommendations at different levels are appreciated.

My needs:
Basically want something to research and write on while away from my PC.
-Internet access
-Word processing
-Prefer Android

Her needs:
-Skype so front facing camera and a mic
-College girl so web surfing and word processing

I haven't looked too much into it, but google is releasing a new $249 chromebook 10/31/2012. I imagine it has some word processing app.

Dell is going to come out with a Duo 12(netbook cum tablet), 12.5" screen, windows 8, for college girl this might be a fit. Price not out yet.

Whoooooooooosh. He was pointing out the unusual use of the word "cum", which doesn't seem to be appropriate in that context and is certainly not how many people use that word now. See the first and second bullet of the wiki

Wait for Windows 8 detachables. Best tablet/laptop experience, IMO. I'm done with Android tablets AND laptops. My next device better be a tab AND a laptop, or gtfo.

Generational thing, I guess, technically in my gen Medical Doctors used cum and younger folks talked of coming. Oh, well, inadvertant troll, whoosh fixed all around. Concerning the bullets, with as in tablet with netbook is valid. Two-fer (two-in-one) device, in other words.

The top is a touch-screen, slides or flips, settles down over keyboard when flipped one way and when flipped other way is tablet screen of a tablet with HD and full RAM and i5 or i7 inside.
