Last night on the Addaboy Radio Show I asked why there isn't a boycott against the RIAA. Well it turns out there is one.

Show those asshats how you feel about suing customers. Don't buy anything distributed by members of the RIAA (list at http://www.riaa.com/about/members/default.asp.) The big five include Sony, EMI, UMG, Time Warner, & BMG.

Be sure to tell as many people as you can about this.

BTW, www.riaa.org is down.

time warner u cant do crap about cuz it has cable internet in MANY areas and is a monopoly in those areas which totally blows...SONY has their filthy hand in soooo many things its impossible to boycott them....as for the rest of them...i dunno...i mean it seems like a worthy cause..but lets face it...there is very little we can do in this matter :( i mean i would love to give it to the RIAA no ky style...but these companies are so diverse and so all over the place...that we cant do much about it

Well, but these companies are split into divisions, and traditionally, unprofitable divisions get axed.

    ...well...unless you're Microsoft's XBox team...

I would get those Boycott RIAA stickers, but they cost money.

Haha danball, I think there's a site to download them.

Boycotting may be difficult, cuz then they'd blame the slump in sales on the internet (which is an easier target than crappy groups, same ol' same ol', inflated prices, etc). Maybe, write to the president of the companies and tell them what you think. It may make a larger impact. Most of these guys(and gals) only know what their people are telling them.

I've been boycotting the RIAA for quite a while now. Of course, that may have to do with the fact that I have been more into the independent music scene lately. There's a lot of good stuff coming out of Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, MI these days. Anyway, to help you all avoid RIAA releases, I bestow upon thee the RIAA radar. It's a great database of albums along with the record company that releases them and if they are RIAA affiliated or not. You'd be surprised how many labels aren't these days.

Yeah... I noticed that myself after posting... What can I say, I saw the thread, I raged, I posted. The acronym RIAA does tend to have that effect on me.

Ardichoke topples reigning thread necro champion runner up, NESFan, with a 5 year, 11 month, 25 day delay!

The leader board has been updated:

    2. Ardichoke: 5 years, 11 months, 25 days *NEW*
    3. NESFan: 5 years, 11 months, 2 days

Wow... I didn't know you kept track of things like this. I'm honored to take the number 2 spot on the leader board.... If only I had waited two months to post though I could have toppled the reigning king.

Woooo, talk about a blast from the past, this takes me back.

You know, six years later and I feel like the RIAA has done nothing to change my attitude towards them. Fortunately, the music business is going through some changes (ultimately for the better,) and I think that as time goes on we will see the RIAA have less and less influence.
