there are places that are WAY closer than lake orion, just in case you're worried about taking 4-5 hours out of a chunk of the day.
I'm asking for other suggestions. Lake Orion is a 45 minute drive. Then there is about a 2 mile hike to the sledding hill from where we would be parking. The sledding will get better and better the further from 8 mile we go, but if there's anything closer that would be fun I think that would be ideal.
Lamphere Hill is in Madison Heights. It's just a decent hill; there's no woods or anything, but it's much closer and Tushon wouldn't have to walk two miles with his bum ankle.
I haven't been there in 15 years, I honestly couldn't tell you. From what I remember it's just a wide open field.
@djmeph@primesuspect I was there yesterday, it is awesome. And they fenced off the steeper side of the hill because of a brick wall, but the good side has nothing in front of it.

This winter, California's main export is Terin.
There's also a little problem with foot surgery I had today the result of which being that I'm not allowed to walk for the next 3 days or so.

Got a rental car since mine is likely to explode before I even get out of Missouri. They gave me a Chevy Sonic LT.
