Cheapo laptop for light gaming

Was browsing Newegg today and saw this little guy:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215663

It fits my primary size and price requirements and 15" and $500 respectively. I like that it runs on the A-series chips and has dedicated graphics. Downside is the resolution. I believe it should handle the light gaming that I would like to throw it (D3, Torchlight2, etc).

My question is are there any other significantly better options (mostly in terms of screen res or gaming capability) near this price point?

I have an A8-5800K. Would you like me to run actual tests with Torchlight 2? I don't have Diablo 3.

If you wouldn't mind opening it up and running around a bit that would be awesome :) Just looking for decent framerates and I'm cool with dropping down to medium settings if required.

Does your system also have a dedicated GPU?
  • For that price point, it's highly unlikely you'll find anything with better specs, especially not on the resolution front. It's nigh impossible to find anything better than a 768 LCD in the budget market. You may be able to find something with similar specs from a company that has a better build quality and support reputation than Acer though.

    A couple other options.

Having second thoughts, maybe I should just go with a Free Asus Laptop...

I have a mobile a10 laptop and play D3 on it without issue.

Awesome, pretty sure I'm going to pick it up. Thanks for the input everyone.

Keep in mind low resolution is good for a cheap gaming laptop (if gaming is more important than surfing the web or whatever) as it will stretch the capabilities of a cheaper video card more =P
