Need to unlock a forgotten password on a HP Pavilion dv6 using WIN 7

A friend wants me to work on their HP laptop, but the first problem I have is they use the fingerprint log on. They do not remember their their log on. Any suggestions that won't cost much?

Ophcrack is your best bet

Forget Ophcrack, unless he's using the Windows disk encryption which relies on that password it will take more time than it's worth.

Use Windows Offline Password & Registry Editor and just blank out the password on his account. Then log into the account and set a new password.

I could not use this as for some reason the User name would not show. I believe it was because I needed Administer privileges. I found this web page and all I needed was a Win 7 installation disc (which I had) and it worked perfectly the 1st try.
