Monitor Image Banding / Corruption

I've got an old Dell 2001FP that has had issues with corruption on the left (top in portrait) side for awhile. It started as blue bands that appeared sometimes, then most of the time, then the banding width doubled, then the top band went from blue banding to noisy corruption...

I've got a progressive problem that is getting more and more distracting. I avoid it most of the time by using my other two monitors in Eyefinity, but it's more distracting in games, and it's a matter of time before I can't read anything on it.

What internal parts could be responsible for the problem? Inverter, signal cable? Wondering if I can fix it. I'm hesitant to buy a cheap replacement 2001FP, since I'm saving up to ditch the whole Eyefinity setup with a 2440/2600p screen.

First image shows whole monitor, second shows closeup of problem area.

  • Can't fix that - the black streaking which isn't pixel-perfect? Yeah. That's panel failure.
