Religious customs with Christianity along with improved methods of animal husbandry is really what turned us off from horse meat. Nordic rituals usually required some kind of feast on equine flesh, one of the first Christian Kings of Denmark had to eat some horse to prove he was a true Dane and worthy of his title.
Might as well eat them, I mean who really wants to keep a horse to ride around on? That's fun like once.

If we had a poll I bet at least 85% of people here would eat a horse. I would be first in line. NBD.

You want to eat a lean meat?
That meat would be horse meat. Every time the wife and I go back to visit her family and friends in Europe there's a little roach coach type vendor (this is no joke) that serves horse meat burgers. They're huge, delicious and AWESOME to finish up a night of drinking with (at least in my experience)! Epic BBQ event that features horsemeat burgers? Oh, totally in.
