getting error msg like cannot load hive file in xp machine

I have tried repair the xp by us drive ... i am not getting an ideas on how to change the bios settings..
My cd Rom is not working fine ...
I have xp in mybusb drive ...
Can any one help me in installing xp without cd drive

    or, if you want a non-asshole answer, did you make sure you made your USB drive bootable when you put XP on it? There's a lot of tutorials on doing this, I would reference one of them.
