I'm gonna wait till official word for it gets out then I'll have my two cents about it. history says I probably won't give a dang about it regardless anyways. Xboxes just haven't interested me really.
I believe we upon a paradigm shift in the console gaming market. After years of inflated hardware specs, high cost of ownership and more complicated controls and added peripherals, I think the living room is ready for a "less is more" approach.
I predict Ouya will be huge. Everyone will own one.
I don't think the PS4 and next gen Xbox will catch fire. With their huge corporate investment and commercial marketing machine they will certainly be relevant, I'm not saying they will be utter failures, but when the dust settles and people look back on the "next generation" I think you will see a paradigm shift in how the game is played. It's already happening. Developers are fleeing console development for the more friendly open space of phone and PC publishing. The Ouya being completely open, cheap and accessible to everyone will change everything. Sure, it's graphically less capable, but once it starts steaming games from the cloud (which it will) it won't matter.
1. Nuke Microphone Noob button (Plays an airhorn through your microphone to blast out the eardrums of mic spamming noobs)
2. Built in recording, vid editing, and streaming capabilities.
3. A cooling system that does not melt down so easily!
ZOMGWTFGRAPHICS are possible on limited hardware when leveraging the power of the cloud. It's going to happen, I believe the OUYA will be the platform that will make it mainstream.
"Brodogs" This conversation has sunk to insults? ;*)
Seriously, Madden will be perfectly playable from the cloud. Think EA would not want to get Origin on OUYA?
Like I said, Ouya will remain a fourth-place finisher behind the other consoles. Everyone else has mega franchise games to sell units. Without such a title, Ouya has a severe uphill battle ahead of them.
I like the idea of easily-replaceable $100 units.
