Homeworld IP to Go to Gearbox
So it would seem that Gearbox managed to outbid Relic in getting the Homeworld IP.
That's right. A shooter-focused company that's produced such marvelous games as Duke Nukem Forever, and recently the amazing Aliens: Colonial Marines (both of which were external IPs that they acquired and treated with the utmost respect) has now picked up a space RTS IP critically acclaimed for it's art and storytelling.
Given Gearbox's recent track record, and their diverse sweep of genre coverage in their games, I can anticipate nothing but success for this new venture.
