Microsoft has launched a full on smear campaign against Google and Apple.

http://www.scroogled.com/ - 100% legit © 2013 Microsoft straight from the MSN home page warning users about info being given to App developers upon purchase of apps in the Google Market.

Also this:

Now I am not one to attack or defend, I believe in "to each his own" so I am a bit surprised that Microsoft went the smear campaign avenue.

Interested in the community's thoughts on this.

Microsoft's marketing company is secretly working for Google. It's the only way to explain the absolute sheer suckage of the Scroogled campaign.

I always thought Microsoft's marketing was hilariously lacking any sort of focus to actually establish their brand. Remember the Gmail Man video?
Anyway, my thought is it's funny but nobody cares about privacy and the are choosing a poor avenue of differentiation, and then executing it like idiots.

Hysterical whining when you're getting obliterated only works in politics. Someone tell Microsoft.

For humor, "Search Karate. Karate!" it was slightly amusing.

As an Ad it's utterly devoid of anything meaningful. It's beautiful in showing where they stand, off to the side, laughing and muttering to themselves how great they are while taking candid shots of everyone else.

Isn't this kind of old? I thought I read about it months ago... silly Microsoft.
  • Privacy on the internet is about as real as the tooth fairy. A corporation can hide anything in the fine print just as well as I can sneak in the room after my kid is fast asleep.

Internet users are not a stupid as Microsoft would hope. We all know Google is spying on us, we just stopped caring. Short of getting off the internet, what do you do? Exactly, just wing it, don't download kiddie porn or a plans to build a bomb and hope everything will be just fine.

Microsoft's FUD campaign will accomplish nothing.
