Payday 2 is currently $5.99 on Greenman Gaming (http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/action/payday-2/) and if you use coupon code 20OFFE-RENADB-SJUGCV you can get 20% off on top of that so you can get Payday 2 for $4.80. Zanthian, Ghoosdum, CB & I just picked it up.

Permanant DLC and base game price drop.
Everything released in the first 16 months of Payday 2 has been dropped in a 33-46% range.
Payday 2 itself is now $20. Most DLC has dropped $1-$2.

I don't always try to rob a casino, but when I do, me and my crew play the slots for 20 minutes and while watching this civilian struggle with the concept of having lost all his money to the slots.
Seriously, we tried Deathwish Golden Grin Casino and played the slot machines for the first 20 minutes. All throughout that time, this guy was freaking out and huddled to the ground. Silly bugs be silly. Elvis would also drop by from time to time and hip thrust near the guys head. Maybe that's what his problem was.

This year's Crimefest has started. This time it's a 48 hour challenge mode:
For 17 days, between the 28th of September to the 14th of October, four challenges will be offered every 48 hours. When 48 hours have passed, new challenges will appear. When a challenge is completed, the community will receive a hint to what the final reward is. The reward is then released during a separate event called Crimefest, between 15-24 October.
Here is the website, click the lit up tiles to see the progress on each challenge.
Black Market will be free from Update 100 on. What I gather from this is all previous safes and keys (and skins) will continue to exist and be marketable but the will not drop any further (keys will probably still be for sale). Any future safe drops will be free to open.
Grenades will be available for everyone. You will no longer need someone in your group with the Gage Weapon Pack #01 DLC.
Okay, @BobbyDigi. What do I need to get started here? Base game was got a while ago, just never played. Need anything else? Does IC still dabble in heists?
You don't need any of the DLC to do the heists but there is a good handful of weapons behind that wall. These include everything from fully automatic Sasha style machine guns to bow and arrows.
Some of the heists are unlocked with DLC also but only the host needs them to play. (host has DLC, starts public or private lobby, everyone in that lobby can play that heist).
I'm a natural teacher so I always dig walking peeps through heists. I loved the old style stealth but alas that is no more. It is also just as fun to go in guns blazing so I am happy to go loud along with ya.
If you are interested, let's plan something. I don't think it would be difficult to get a couple more Icrontians to 4 with us.

As I understand it:
1. What do I need to get started here?
The base game and the free updates provide a fair amount of content to play with. Also you'll be able to play whatever the host of the lobby has. You won't be able to access some rewards exclusive to certain DLC though. I suggest just playing around while you wait for a sale to come up. This way you can see how the game works, and understand your own playstyle preferences. That way when the sales roll around you can get only what you want to get. For example if you like stealthy styles you can by the heists, gear, and or characters that accommodate that style of gameplay.
2. Need anything else?
There is a mod called HoxHud that adds some useful info to the HUD. It's not a requirement but it's very helpful. Caveat is this mod generally breaks itself or the game after each update.
3. Does IC still dabble in heists?
While I personally keep my Payday 2 up-to-date, I can't speak for anyone else and the last time I can recall someone from IC playing it was during the Halloween event two years ago. (Discounting BobbyDigi playing it as I type this.)
I got the game when it was cheap and then nobody played any more. I'm out for summer break so I'm up for some heists pretty much any night. Ping me and let's do it!
Starbreeze getting the rights to the games 100 percent back, and their first act being putting the kibosh to paying for safe drills, is an act that greatly pleases me. I actually stopped playing around the Hype Train event for reasons I won't get back into, but this hard shift on the re-acquisition announcement is a great sign, IMO.
I didn't even know that "Overdrill" existed until tonight when it was offered by the host I had dropped in on for the Golden Grin (my first time doing that also).
1 Hour, 8 bags of money, and 76 bags of gold later...
That was a lot of fun.
P.S. Reading a little more about it I do remember hearing something about Overdrill when Big Bank was released for Payday 2. It used to be 2 hours just for the drill and I remember thinking people had to be MLG Pro level to pull it off.
Comments
So the community reached the last destination of The Hype Train event.
Overkill just made mad bank yo.
Anybody feel up to some Heisting tomorrow (Today?)
With Hotline Miami 2 comes the Jacket Character Pack and I have a real need to indulge in some baseball bat swinging ultraviolence.
Well the Spring break event mentioned in the Hype Train event is scheduled for this weekend and beyond. (March 13-21)
So if not now then soon.
Spring Break is here.
FINALLY! SAW MODS!

Some friends turned me on to HoxHud. It's an approved mod that gives you a lot more info on your display, like ECM time remaining or # of hostages.
Big pic that I won't inline.
You need to join the group to download it (what is it with Payday folks and Steam groups?)
So I picked this up during the sale. If anyone wants to play with a noob, send me a message.
Voice lines from the Car Shop Heist
Butchers BBQ Pack March 26th
Flamethrowers incoming!

Heh, figured I would get a few runs in to make sure I still got it.
I do :-)
I'd be up for playing again if we got the team back together

Might pick it back up again before too long.

Oh man they brought back Overdrill for FWB from Payday 1.
I remember pulling that shit off back in the day. My brother and I didn't know what the first guy we met doing it was even talking about at the time.
Holy crap that was a fun hour!
