WTB Old Laptop ( needs to run Ubuntu )Looking for a old laptop

Looking fora Old laptop for a college kid in school who needs it to do research from only. He doesn't have much cash and the one I have I can't get running fast enough to throw Ubuntu on it. Any one have a older one laying around ( size isnt a issue ) That May need some love but will run Ubuntu?

    try xubuntu, instead. should run on a slow laptop no problem

    Like @shwaip, I had great luck with Xubuntu on machines that couldn't handle full blown Ubuntu. There are even smaller/less resource intensive versions as well.
