Afraid I won't be in Detroit this year However, if anyone would like to ring in the New Year in sunny, warm, and beautiful Austin with @thrax and I. Let one of us know, the more the merrier
I doubt anything else but would likely be in for an Austin meet as I live there.

Definitely can't make Detroit, but I might be able to get to Austin. Just depends on what happens in the next few weeks.

I guess warm is perspective, since it does (sometimes) snow on christmas! I promise it can be cold here. I will also be IC Austin'ing ...

sooooooooo, it's looking more and more like I'm going to be able to head to ICNY this year, but since funds may be a bit tight would it be possible to crash at the HQ or maybe on someone's couch??
I think the more important question is how I'd transport four kegs of awesome on a flight.
The answer seems to be "maybe". Based on some preliminary googling, the problem is a lack of consistent application of TSA policy (officially, no pressurized kegs...some agents just don't let you do it at all). Considering my full holiday travel plans (OKC->Columbus, Columbus->Detroit, Detroit->OKC), it's not worth attempting.
...but there's always Expo...

It's all working out like I may be able to make this.
@mertesn I've been doing some research on transporting knife sets (put one of my xmas list from my mom, meaning I'd have to fly with them). Seems the general consensus is two-fold:
By the books - yes, allowed to do it with checked baggage. Officially - it's up to the TSA agent and the mood they're in.
Seems like a total crap shoot with any of the "questionable" kind of stuff, checked or not.

Yeah, for stuff like a knife set it's totally cool to put it in checked bags. For some reason they get kind of twitchy if they find it in a carry on.
So I just checked my request for time off from work. December 29, January 1 and 2 approved. December 30 and 31 denied. ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
