Icrontic Guild raid info
Myrmidon
Baron von PuttenhamCalifornia Icrontian
I was chatting with a couple of you over Mumble last night, and I didn't hear any opposition to beginning progression in mid-to-late January. For those of you who are new, that means - being geared (as high as possible, note a lucky run of the timeless isle will get you to 496), gemmed, enchanted, flasked, fed, and available to commit to a raiding schedule. That sounds daunting, but it's really not - these are just online happytown fun-tiem parties with beer and video games and pizza or whatever.
I haven't started asking about raiding schedules, so let's get that out of the way, too. I'd like to aim for the two-nights raiding schedule of sunday evening/monday evening schedule we used to have (that's evening for you eastern timers, even if it means I might be late to the monday ones - I don't want you guys having to stay up raiding til midnight). What does your schedule look like?
So a couple quick queries:
1. Are you down for January, or do you need more time?
2. What role/offspec will you be joining us as?
3. Would long Sunday evening (starting at 4 or 5pm ET til we're drunk)/Monday evening (starting at 6 or 7pm ET til 10 or 11 ET) be acceptable as a raiding schedule?
4. Do you have alternate times you would prefer?
So, for me:
1. Hell yes I'm down for January.
2. Tank/heals, but I will switch to melee dps if we need more (and possible hunter if I must)
3. Sunday yes, Monday I will not be available 'til 8pm ET.
4. I'm generally available after 8pm ET on weekdays, but I don't think that will work for people. I would rather not ask people to commit their Fridays and Saturdays, but I'm flexible.
We currently have:
Tank MS:
Dan - Paladin tank/healer
Susurro - Monk Tank/healer
Prag - Warrior tank
Rexxar - DK tank
DPS MS:
Prime - Priest dps
Cannonfodder - Priest dps/healer
Midga - mage dps (tentative)
Fatcat - warlock dps
jboogs - hunter dps
Hammy - Warrior dps
Church - monk dps
Heals MS:
Rahnal - Monk healer
Magic - Priest healer
Hydrar - Druid Healer
Lol put me anywhere
Tiberiuslazaraus - Druid

-edit-
Sundays would be much easier for me than a weekday.
For the questions:
1. Yes I'm down for January.
2. Monk - Mistweaver (heals) for sure. I can tank as well but I haven't tried DPS yet and want to see how that is like as monk.
3. I'm okay with both of those but would prefer the long Sunday Evening time.
4. It's a bit early for me to say for sure if other evenings would work.
2. Shadow Priest / DPS
3. Neither of those schedules works for me. I cannot play until at least 8pm EST on any given night (even Sundays)
4. Any day after 9pm is ideal; that's my gaming time. I think a few others who are married/babbied will concur that only night-time committed gaming is realistic.
2. Shadow Priest / DPS / Heals
3. Flexible
4. Flexible
2. Warrior/DPS (MAYBE some tanking/off-tanking if I need to, I haven't tried tanking yet. We'll see how it goes.)
3. I'm very flexible. Do be aware that the later in the evening things go though, I might have...dozing problems. It sometimes happens with MMOs with me. I'll do my best not to let it happen though, I usually take this sort of thing pretty serious.
4. On that note though, I entirely agree with Prime.
@Rahnal, @midga - would you have an issue with staying up later, if it came to that? Seems to be the way the world is turning.
@primesuspect - later works better for me, too. Let's hope everyone else is down for that. If not, we used to use a substitution method in the past that made it so latecomers could get in on the action (and also dealt with the dreaded 'we have too many members' problem).
@teramona - yeah ya do!
Love it, keep up the info. If I can structure a solid 10-man group, I'm happy. I'm especially happy if I can structure two solid 10-mans, or - god I hope - a solid 25-man group.
Take Brian's example - comment on what times are best for you. Keep in mind starting later may involve either less raid time before bedtime, or possible raiding late into the night. I'm okay with both, I just want you to be okay with it, too.
Also, to clarify, I'm talking about TWO distinct, shorter raid nights instead of one massive one. If you can't make both days, that's okay, don't feel pressured to commit to something hard for you - the schedule won't work for everyone. Having said that, I'd like it to work for you, so please overcommunicate!
2: Main: Ranged DPS (Warlock) Offspec: Ranged DPS (Warlock)
3: Sunday 1400 - 0100 EST
4: Monday 2000 - 0100 EST
2. Main: Ranged DPS (hunter) Offspec: Ranged DPS (hunter) lol
3. Sundays work for me and having it in the evening (around 6-7pmEST to about Midnight) would work best (get up at 445-515 for work...ugh.
4. Prime brings up a good point...Friday or Saturdays 9 to whenever we're drunk/tired?
I'd like to point out something as well. If we are Flex Raiding, then this will work perfectly cause the latecomers can join and no one else has to leave. In WoD all the raids will have that system except the Mythic (current heroic level) raids.
2. What role/offspec will you be joining us as? Monk DPS or Healer. If needed, Hunter DPS
3. Would long Sunday evening (starting at 4 or 5pm ET til we're drunk)/Monday evening (starting at 6 or 7pm ET til 10 or 11 ET) be acceptable as a raiding schedule? If I am off those days, yes.
4. Do you have alternate times you would prefer? Nope.
It's something to consider, though, as us playing together is somewhat more important. We could create a separate group for those of use more insistent on 10-mans. We should chat about it at some point.
Yes Flex is on a separate lockout/progress system. As far as easier goes it's just the health/dmg scaled to the number of people in the raid. Mechanics are the same as if it were a Normal raid. You can even get the achieves and such rewards from it, excluding obvious heroic boss kill titles, mounts, etc. The difference between Flex and Normal might not feel as big as the numbers might make it, but that will depend on each individual. Another thing to consider is that flex is only on Siege of Orgrimmar at the moment, so, depending on everyone's gear/interests, it may not be an option right away. So yeah we should all talk about it at some point.
Earlier is better for me. Getting to bed after midnight makes getting to work the next day a problem. Occasionally I could deal with this, but every week it would be a potential issue. That said, starting at 20:00cst would be tolerable I think. There's, of course, the issue of work travel taking me out some weeks, but that should only mess with Mondays. I'm almost always home by 20:00 on Sundays no matter where I've been.
The only problem I foresee is level. I'm 53 now. There will likely be about a week or so this month I won't be able to do any real playing. That leaves about a month to six weeks to get both leveled and geared. We'll see how it goes, but I'm by no means a hardcore player, and I'd like to actually spend some time on the RP server I've been neglecting. I'll get there, I just don't know if January is realistic.
2. Paladin DPS or Warrior DPS
3 and 4. I can be free pretty much any weeknight after 6pm EST, weekends are pretty open/flexible in the evenings also.
Yes.
2. What role/offspec will you be joining us as?
Drood. Willing to do any spec. No, seriously. I'm currently gearing up for heals/ranged dps spec (basically same gear so it works easy).
3. Would long Sunday evening (starting at 4 or 5pm ET til we're drunk)/Monday evening (starting at 6 or 7pm ET til 10 or 11 ET) be acceptable as a raiding schedule?
I'm around.
4. Do you have alternate times you would prefer?
Octember.
2. I've got my Brewmaster Monk ready to go. So Tank! I am off-specing Heals. I also have Heals/DPS shaman if necessary.
3. I'd probably be good with Sunday/Monday. If it goes too late, It will be rough, as I do work in the mornings
4. Anything is good, as long as it's not crazy late. I'll figure something out.
2 Priest Heals
3 Sunday monday is good
4 Nope im flexible.
2. Resto Druid or Warlock - will bring what the raid needs.
3. Available after 8pm Sun/Mon.
Consider me a back-up raider. Definitely interested and willing to raid, but I wouldn't want to take the spot of someone who needs loot/upgrades.
I have lots of experience in both ToT and SoO.
As far as which level of raiding ... it really depends on the overall iLvl of the group. If you are going into Flex, hoping for 540 upgrades... you will have a very difficult time if the raid is only level 520. It can be done, but slowly and painfully. Not a ton of fun.
My recommendation is to get 528 (LFR) and 535 (Timeless) before going into Flex. Do one or 2 rounds of Flex as a stepping stone in gear, then the group should be good enough for Normal.
Running LFR first has the additional benefits of getting items for Legendary Cloak (which is super nice), and some basic exposure to the fight mechanics.
Glad to see interest in raiding here. The encounters are very interesting- each very unique.
OS - Spriest
Anywho, I'm back! I'm also super interested in raiding, if you'll have me.
I can normally be found twerking my resto shammy through dungeons until I get to cap, which should be really soon hopefully.
If you're unsure, the progression is like this
Get to 90 > run timeless isle stuff > run "LFR" to get gear, best on Tuesday/Wednesday nights > start running flex with us
We also run LFR together to make it more fun or whatever, but that's your basic schedule of events. A lot of fans of AskMrRobot for gear ideas/help. See @Thrax 's excellent guide here, but that'll only be relevant once you get into the timeless isle and beyond. Somewhere in the mix above, you'll want to either do research on the "best" rotation for your particular class or talk with someone else who has for guidance. There is as much info as you want to consume available, so I recommend taking it in doses :P
I'll have to check out those links, I love nerding out on some theorycrafting.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
