rebuilding a fat ps3 & donating a ps3

Okay here's the deal a friend of mine sold me his PlayStation 3 fat for $45 broken. needless to say there was more than a few dust bunnies and ylod

the following is being done.

reflow of the MLB
system clean
apply arctic silver 6 thermal compound
polish the ps3 plastic cover

my old slim system I will be giving to my friend who don't have one and is not expecting this. He had twins back in August so I have been helping him anyway I can.

If you're not reading discs at all, I resuscitated @primesuspect's old GameCube by adjusting the laser or detector gain (not sure). I adjusted the value of the potentiometer on the moving laser head carriage by rotating it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn.

Is there anyway I can change out the blue ray fluid with ultra high resolution. :-)

Any cool mods you guys have done to your systems. I did the reflow with success but I probably didn't need to do it but just ruling out future issues.

finished product and no ylod. it took me longer than I originally planned. I had to order a cmos battery and since it was open I added a 19 fin system fan.
