It was @VBR's first Renn Faire! And it was the opening weekend of the 2014 Maryland Renn Faire.
@malia roadtripped all the way from Madison WI via Detroit to pick up Ryan & I. @wax was in town and met us for a few hours at the Faire too!
Anne's parents stayed with us for the entire event for the first time (instead of getting a hotel Friday/Sat night) and were a ton of fun. Her sister Katie's family (Scott, Eleanor, & Clark) all came to the fair at the same time too.
We had a shrimp boil after a 5-hour Faire day & eggs hollandaise the following morning coordinated by @Annes and @Tushon.
@pragtastic & @CannonFodder both knocked out conservative 10-hit streaks on the hammer game, and @wax stepped up and rang the bell as well. @Annes and I wanted to take home one of the players in the Dueling Fools show. @wax, his girlfriend, and @Annes threw axes. @Tushon visited Blade & Badger for the first time, where swords were foisted upon us to hold as usual. Baked potatoes, scotch eggs, and mac & cheese on a stick were in ample supply - also as usual.
@Tushon & I got new wooden mugs (my original one is now undergoing repair). Much Sam Adams draft beer was consumed in them.
We learned 3 new board games: Wits & Wagers, Pandemic, and Hanabi. All of which will be going into rotation at ICHQ immediately. The latter 2 are both cooperative games which was a great change of pace. I got my fill of Vegas Showdown, of course, too.
