Next week I'm having surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and won't be able to participate in karate for around 10-12 weeks. Anyone have suggestions on exercise during this time that doesn't involve using one arm?
Swimming - plenty of product out there to support super low-impact exercise. Pull buoys, fins w/kickboard, etc. You should buy MY shit.
...for the love of all that is holy. How does this markdown shit work? wtf. Seriously @Lincoln can you please link a how-to or guide someplace easily accessible? I had to search for the markdown thread and click the link there - noone's going to know that exists! MY GOD, MAN, PLEASE, THE CHILDREN.
Surgery was today. It went well. They told me (in a semi-conscious state, so not sure how accurate this is) I had a 15% tear in my rotator cuff and a good sized bone spur causing problems. I start physical therapy on Monday and am looking at 10-12 weeks until getting back to karate Should be close to 100% for Expo.
Eight weeks out from surgery... I've got my full range of motion back and have been cleared to start working out again, karate included. Today I knocked out 25 pushups (10 regular, 10 wide, 5 close) and three pull-ups. Not bad for 3+ months of no exercise.

Squats, lunges, and hip abductors.
Perfect time to start this:

That seems cool. Because I'm a competitive spirit, I want to try this just to see if I can get to 200 without recent training.
I can think of some cardio that only uses one arm...
Third reply. I expected something like that much sooner

10-12 weeks is smalltime. You'll be kicking dicks again before you know it.
Awesome, dude!
Silly Canti, you kick dicks with your legs not your elbow!
Not mertesn, he punches with the power of kicks.

cycling in a gym
kickpuncher!
That's like running on a treadmill - doing an outdoor activity indoors and going nowhere isn't my thing. I start karate again on Wednesday.
