Hey this may be a dumb question but a cannot really find anywhere where it has been proven to be fact. I use a radeon 9700 all-in-wonderand would like to know if the new Catalyst 4.1 drivers are prone to overheating the GPU like 3.8? I know the monitor thing has been fixed, luckily my monitor has one of those refresh rate limiter things (don't know the technical term.) Basically my question is should I keep 4.1 or go back to 3.7? Oh and I have uninstalled the foolproof unistall way before installing the 4.1 drivers. I don't want to have to RMA this thing twice. Well, thanks in advance. And I assume this will be the first of many posts as i have just registered. Hopefully my next couple will be answers and not questions.

    Welcome in to Short-Media :)

Im one of the three <s>lunatics</s> founders/owners of this place, so if you get stuck or have any questions... don't hesitate to ask me  .. in the meantime...

In answer to your question, I have heard no reports of any problems with the Cat 4.1's overheating cards and we haven't had any reports from members saying so either :)

Im using them with my 9800xt and they are workin great, as they did with the 9700pro before it :D

I thought the overheating was only with the 9800 XT ?

Anyways, they are safe. I have an overclocked 9800 pro (460/360) and I have been using the 4.1's since they came out. I believe the fixed that problem in the 3.9 drivers.

Hey thanks shorty. I didnt want to burn out another card, though I know I and many other people have sent a driverissue complaint to ati they still haven't taken the faulty drivers off the site. The least they could do is give a "Use at your own risk" warning with those drivers. I dont understand, since the new drivers are fine and they're having to pay to replace/repair many cards due to the bad ones. Guess it's some business thing because no respectable coder would want to have harmful drivers out there with his name on them.
