Whatever gets you through the night 'salright, 'salright
It's your money or life 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a sword to cut through flowers oh no, oh no
Whatever gets you through your life 'salright, 'salright
Do it wrong or do it right 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a watch to waste your time oh no, oh no
Hold me darlin' come on listen to me
I won't do you no harm
Trust me darlin' come on listen to me, come on listen to me
Come on listen, listen
Whatever gets you to the light 'salright, 'salright
Out the blue or out of sight 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a gun to blow your mind oh no, oh no
Hold me darlin' come on listen to me
I won't do you no harm
Trust me darlin' come on listen to me, come on listen to me
Come on listen, listen
I guess I prefer the earlier, rawer solo-era Lennon (Well Well Well)
I would agree , that probably is his best work ; a lot of that was recorded as the plastic ono band , that at times included Eric Clapton and George Harrison to name a few......
...in fact;
I always feel silly commenting on bands/artists that were before my time, but I think it all went downhill after Imagine, although Double Fantasy has a few belters. I've only been into him for around 3 years so I'm still exploring some of his stuff. Plastic Ono Band for me is unbeatable. There's real pain in it and you can hear it.
You could argue that is the appeal of the later work; Lennon's overcoming of his pain(s) ....especially on Double Fantasy (until some stupid bast@&$ came along) and the posthumous Milk & Honey.
