Windows Source Code Leak!!!

edited February 2004 in Science & Tech
From Neowin:
Neowin has learned of shocking and potentially devastating news. It would appear that two packages are circulating on the internet, one being the source code to Windows 2000, and the other being the source code to Windows NT. At this time, it is hard to establish whether or not full code has leaked, and this will undoubtedly remain the situation until an attempt is made to compile them. Microsoft are currently unavailable for comment surrounding this leak so we have no official response from them at the time of writing.

I dunno if this is true or not.

    Finally, we get to see code such as:
    if (currentApplication.name == "Netscape") {
        crashApplication(&currentApplication);
    }

    And, who could forget such a classic:
    if (systemInformation.SecurityStatus() == "SECURE") {
        updateSecurityStatus(&systemInformation,"EASYHACK");
    }

    Seriously, though. W2K is great. Those complaints are mainly towards WindowME and previious versions.

    < kidding > I've not had Netscape crash more than 6 or 7 hundred times since changing to 2K. And hacked? Ha! Once I switched to 2K I got my average down from 10 times a week to a mere 4! How's that? < /kidding >

    quite contrary, they will not look at it at all. wine source code is freely available, if MS sees anything that looks like their own source code in there, they can pull a SCO and sue the entire open source world.

    They make a commercial unix called SCO Unix - they are a sue-happy mega corporation who is claiming that linux uses parts of SCO's proprietary unix code. Therefore, they are suing every single company and person who uses linux :rolleyes:.. They've already been shot down a few times, and perhaps soon their misguided efforts will fizzle out and go away.
